The town of Nessebar is 36 km away. northeast of Burgas, on the Black Sea coast. In close proximity is another big Bulgarian resort - Sunny Beach.
Today, the old and new parts of the city are separated by a bridge. The old city is only 850 meters long and 350 meters wide. For the time it existed, the city lost about a third of its territory, which is washed away by the sea.
